There are a lot of fad diets out there. I’m a little embarrassed to admit I have tried more than a few myself. If you aren’t into fad dieting, but would rather learn how to make real and effective lifestyle changes, then listen up. Trim Healthy Mama is the HOTTEST book out there that will help you kick bad eating habits and lose weight in the process. Its not a diet book, but rather a book about making changes to your diet through planning the type of meals you have on any given day. Some days you will eat lower carbohydrate meals and other’s higher. The book really explains the science behind their method and that by “cycling” your eating on certain days, you are firing up your metabolism to burn your excess fat. In addition to the carb cycling, Trim Healthy Mama recommends other methods such as replacing sugar with Stevia, drinking Chinese Ooolong tea to help with jump-starting your metabolism. They also include countless recipes to help you make a meal plan. While the plan may appear to be radical, it certainly makes sense and they break it down in the book so it is easy to start the process.

What makes the most sense to me is that this book isn’t trying to sell you anything, other than being healthier, feeling better and living a fuller life doing it. The meal plans are easy to follow and are just a guide to help you. The recipes for the most part do not require any foods that you probably wouldn’t already have in your pantry. I’m not one for self-help type books, but Trim Healthy Mama laid out the science behind their thinking it made sense. What I especially connected with is their method of banishing cravings for the foods that are bad for you like processed junk food and sugar. Other diet books tell you that you need to cut out sugar entirely from your diet, but Trim Healthy Mama gives you alternatives like “Skinny Chocolate” made from Stevia and a variety of smoothies, puddings, etc to please any sweet tooth. Throughout the book, you are given alternatives that allow you to change your life without feeling like you are giving up all the yummy foods.

After reading a bulk of the book, I was intrigued and googled for more information. I was especially interested in reviews to see if it actually worked. I read nearly 100 reviews and sure, enough nearly all were positive and praised Trim Healthy Mama.  Many of the reviews I read were from people who have lost significant amounts of weight, over 20 lbs+ using the diet and lifestyle plan outlined in the book. Those success stories t were motivating and showed that the diet truly works.  There is also a large community on Facebook for those wanting to follow the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle where there are hundreds of recipes and tips to help you along.  I encourage those that are skeptical about it, to simply read the book and do your own research.

    I was thinking of doing the Atkins Diet but I need to change my eating habits in order to maintain a healthy weight. I would love to read this book, especially love that they include recipes.

      Yes, definitely work on giving up the soda. Try flavored seltzer as a start…and then work towards just water. You CAN do it!

    My diet buster is really a combination of two…. not taking the time to eat when I’m caring for my children (life gets crazy and busy!) and then just eating whatever I can get my hands on when I do eat. It’s awful :(
