Love the Moment in Viriginia Beach

Summer is just around the corner and who doesn’t love a trip to the beach? Virginia Beach is a great beach destination where there are so many places to see and activities to do that you will love the moments your family will share.  You not only have miles of beautiful sandy beaches to explore, you have other attractions as well.  After the kids are done with the beach be sure to visit Grommet Island Park and Playground, its one of the first fully accessible parks for people of all abilities and great for children with disabilities to play and enjoy the oceanfront surroundings.

There is also the Virginia Aquarium that offers over 700,000 gallons of aquariums for young and old to explore and learn and 300 hands-on exhibits too! When we go on vacation to the beach, I like to always have indoor activities planned either for a back-up or a change of pace and a visit to the aquarium is perfect for a rainy day or a day when you are all “beached-out”. Why not spend the day inside the air conditioning and learn about the creatures in the oceans?

Virginia Beach also offers a sampling of the arts as well.  Right now there is an Andy Warhol Portrait Exhibit at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art.  And be sure to check out any concerts in the area, including a Miranda Lambert tour stop! If shopping is more your speed, Virginia Beach also offers forty blocks of shopping in the resort area that include souvenir shops, surf shops, boutiques, art galleries, craft shops and more.

If you want to be in the midst of all the happenings, do visit BeachStreet USA.  They host exciting events throughout the year including a kite festival, Latin festival and Monster Trucks on the beach! They also have regular fireworks shows throughout the entire summer.  And don’t forget about the live music, which I’ve heard is the best in the area.

No vacation is complete without dining at fantastic restaurants.  Take advantage of being on the coast and enjoy fresh seafood or yummy beach food.  If you are a foodie, be sure to check out Coastal Food Tours of Virginia which will show you everything from the chef’s table to the seashore and everything in between.

Virginia Beach is a very accessible destination because its within reasonable driving distance from most of the eastern half of the United States or you can also fly into the nearest major airport, Norfolk International. Its a destination that is very family friendly with the beach and all the other attractions; a great place to make family memories.
